Anne Marie Costantino Yoga

Anne Marie Costantino
Mat? Chair? Pick one or both and let's flow.

I admit it. I started practicing yoga in the 1990s because Madonna was doing it. But her reasons for being on her mat resonated with me. I was always making checklists and too often I was focused on the next item without fully appreciating the moment I had so meticulously planned and diligently worked for. And although Madonna got me on a mat, the practice itself has kept me on it.

The class I teach is the type of class I love as a student. I like to build a pose from the ground up and once I arrive, I like to stay for a bit and explore modifications. I am slightly obsessed with alignment. Yet I know I need to find a way to invite free flow and creativity. And although it isn't the reason I roll out my mat, I also like the option to be challenged at a physical level, even if I opt out of the full variation of the pose.

When I design a class, I imagine someone trying yoga for the first time. Because I think yoga should be accessible to everyone and "All Levels" should mean just that. And for more experienced students, I offer variations of poses so they can make the practice their own.

In addition to completing my 200-hour training at Kripalu, I am a certified Lakshmi Voelkner Chair Yoga (LVCY) teacher. I also received my Rest and Renew® certification from Judith Hanson Lasater and can teach Restorative Yoga. So if you are unsure about a classroom setting or being able to sit on the floor or touch your toes, I am happy to meet with you privately and create a class that brings yoga to you... exactly as you want and need.

In May 2018 I opened a little wellness shop that offers small group yoga and meditation classes, as well as body work, acupuncture (coming in September) and reiki. We are located above Life Alive in the most amazing, vibrant corner of Central Square, Cambridge. I hope you will stop by and check it out.
